Murfreesboro City Code sec. 21-106(H) limits any sound amplification device at a public entertainment venue to an equivalent C-weighted level (LeqC) of 65 dBC between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, and 50 dBC between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, measured at the boundary of the nearest occupied dwelling or noise-sensitive zone. Commercial loudspeakers and PA systems (sec. 21-108(B)) may not be plainly audible across a residential boundary at night, or 100 feet away during the day. School, college and cultural events (other than MTSU, which is exempt) get a limited exemption 7 AM-11 PM. Special events may obtain a permit under sec. 21-70.
