Outdoor music and amplified sound must stay within 45 dBC (7 a.m.-sunset) or 40 dBC (sunset-6:59 a.m.) at the property line under § 9-110(b). Outdoor loudspeakers and PA systems may not exceed the ambient sound level of the lot (§ 9-110(f)).
Outdoor concerts, patio speakers and DJ sets fall under § 9-110(b)'s music limits of 45 dBC by day and 40 dBC after sunset, measured at the real property line. Outdoor loudspeakers, public-address and paging systems are separately restricted by § 9-110(f) to not exceed the ambient sound pressure of the lot where the source sits, because standard measurement isn't suited to non-musical amplified voice. For louder outdoor events, the county manager may issue a temporary permit for up to seven days (§ 9-115); no more than three permits for events running past 11:00 p.m. may issue for one location in any twelve months.
Exceeding the outdoor music or loudspeaker limits is a code violation; the operator or performer is presumed responsible (§ 9-114) and cases proceed under chapter 7.
