Amplified music rules in Osceola County, FL — also called sound permit, PA system, or live music ordinances — set decibel limits, time-of-day restrictions, and when permits are required.
Music from any instrument, speaker, phonograph or amplifier may not exceed 45 dBC at your property line from 7:00 a.m. through sunset, or 40 dBC after sunset through 6:59 a.m., under Osceola County Code § 9-110(b)—a stricter cap than general noise.
Section 9-110(b) specifically targets amplified and produced music. No person may operate any musical instrument, device for the production or reproduction of music, phonograph, loudspeaker or sound-amplifying device so as to exceed, beyond the property line, 45 dBC from 7:00 a.m. through sunset or 40 dBC from one minute after sunset through 6:59 a.m. These C-scale limits are lower than the general 55/45 dBA figures, reflecting bass-heavy amplified sound. A performer or business operator producing amplified sound is presumed responsible for it (§ 9-114). Temporary permits (§ 9-115) can authorize louder events for up to seven days.
Exceeding the music limits is enforceable under chapter 7 by code or law enforcement officers; the venue operator or performer is presumed the responsible party under § 9-114.
