Trinity County publishes no blanket overnight on-street parking ban for its unincorporated roads. The controlling time limit is the California Vehicle Code 72-hour rule, plus the County Snow Removal Policy, which bars parking in the county road right-of-way during snow-removal operations.
There is no Trinity County ordinance imposing a county-wide overnight curfew on parking along unincorporated roads. Trinity County Code Chapter 10.48 sets only daytime time limits (two-hour, four-hour and ten-minute) and specific no-parking locations rather than an overnight rule. The principal time-based limit comes from the California Vehicle Code: under CVC §22651(k), a vehicle left standing on a roadway for 72 or more consecutive hours may be removed, and a vehicle that sits 72 hours without moving can be treated as abandoned. Because Trinity is a high-elevation snow county, the most likely overnight enforcement is seasonal. The County's Snow Removal Policy #2010-01 states 'Parking is not permitted in the County Road right-of-way during snow removal operations' and warns that 'Vehicles left on the road will be towed at owner's expense.' During a declared snow emergency, plowing runs 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all week including weekends, so a vehicle left on a road in Weaverville, Trinity Center, Lewiston, Hayfork or Ruth overnight during a storm is most at risk. The Policy advises drivers to park in County lots as an alternative during snowstorms.
A vehicle left on a county road more than 72 hours may be removed under CVC §22651(k) and treated as abandoned under CVC §22669. During snow-removal operations, vehicles left in the county road right-of-way are towed at the owner's expense per the County Snow Removal Policy #2010-01.
