No person may park a vehicle over 8,000 pounds unladen weight in any residence district street except while actively loading/unloading or performing service, repair or construction in the immediate area. Oversized commercial vehicles are also barred from being stored on residentially zoned parcels.
WCC 70.545 prohibits standing or parking a vehicle in excess of 8,000 pounds unladen weight in any residence district, except when actually and expeditiously loading or unloading merchandise, or when the vehicle is used for service, repair, construction or a similar essential use in the immediate area. On residential parcels, the Development Code's commercial-vehicle definition (WCC 110.306.35(c)) captures vehicles over 8,000 lbs unladen or with more than two axles and bars their storage. Together these rules keep large trucks, semis and heavy equipment off residential streets and lots in unincorporated Washoe County.
Parking an overweight vehicle in a residence area is a misdemeanor punishable under WCC 125.050 (WCC 70.600); an officer may cite an unattended vehicle under WCC 70.585.
