Size and weight limits on residential parking are set by each municipality under the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (MCL 125.3101), not the county. Ann Arbor Code Sec. 5:166(5) states that in residential zones no person shall park in any off-street parking space any vehicle over 22 feet long or a commercial vehicle licensed for an empty weight of more than 5,500 pounds. This captures large RVs, box trucks and heavy commercial rigs. Sec. 5:166(3) additionally keeps trailers, boats and campers out of the front open space. Verify limits with your own city or township.
