Travis County does not regulate RV or boat storage on private residential property in unincorporated areas — no county zoning authority exists under Texas law. Lake Travis and Lake Austin boat storage is common. However, most subdivisions near the lakes (Lakeway, Steiner Ranch, Hudson Bend) have HOA CCRs restricting visible RV/boat parking to screened side or rear yards.
Texas Local Government Code §232 limits county subdivision authority and does not grant zoning. RV living on residential property is allowed unless it violates septic or on-site sewage facility rules (TCEQ Ch. 285).
