Houston regulates RV and boat parking under Chapter 26 and Chapter 28, Article X. Large vehicles (over 8 ft tall or 22 ft long) have a 2-hour street limit and are banned on residential streets from 2 AM to 6 AM. Vehicles must be on improved surfaces.
Large vehicles including RVs, boats on trailers, and travel trailers are regulated under Chapter 26 and Chapter 28, Article X. A large vehicle is defined as exceeding 8 feet in height or 22 feet in length. Large vehicles may park on public streets for a maximum of 2 hours in any district and may not park on residential streets from 2 AM to 6 AM. On residential property, vehicles must be on improved surfaces (concrete, asphalt, gravel). Houston's lack of zoning means fewer city-level restrictions on RV and boat storage than typical cities, but deed restrictions in many neighborhoods prohibit or restrict storage, particularly in front yards and driveways visible from the street. Short-term rental trucks for moving are allowed up to 72 hours.
Large vehicle street parking violation: citation. 2 AM to 6 AM residential street ban: towing (starts at $459 per hour plus $35/day storage). Vehicles parked 48+ hours on street subject to towing.
