On Chattanooga streets you must park parallel, facing traffic, with the right-hand wheels within eighteen inches of the curb (City Code § 24-289). Some neighborhoods are permit-only zones. In unincorporated Hamilton County, Tennessee's rules of the road (TCA Title 55-8) apply and there is no general county time limit.
Chattanooga's Chapter 24, Article X governs stopping, standing and parking. Section 24-289 requires vehicles to park parallel to and within eighteen (18) inches of the curb, headed in the direction of lawful traffic. Section 24-286 lists places where parking is prohibited outright, and § 24-287 bars parking against posted signs. Some residential blocks are designated restricted permit-parking areas (Division 8) enforced 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. weekdays. In unincorporated Hamilton County, Tennessee's uniform rules of the road (TCA Title 55, Chapter 8) apply, enforced by the Sheriff; the county sets no blanket residential time limit. East Ridge, Red Bank and other cities run their own parking codes.
Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed and removed under § 24-303; permit-zone and metered violations draw citations from the Chattanooga Parking Authority. County/state roads are enforced under TCA Title 55.
