Paradise, NV Permit Requirements: Fence Permits (2026)

Under Clark County Code Title 22, Section 22.02.190, fences and walls 6 feet or less in height do not require a building permit. This applies to all common fence materials: wood, vinyl, chain-link, wrought iron, and masonry block. Fences exceeding 6 feet in height require a building permit with structural plans. Clark County Title 30 (Unified Development Code) governs fence placement and height by zoning district. General rules include: side and rear yard fences up to 6 feet, front yard fences typically limited to 3–4 feet, and corner lot fences may have additional visibility requirements. Retaining walls over 4 feet (measured from bottom of footing to top) require a separate permit and engineering calculations. Combined retaining wall and fence structures may require a permit even if neither element independently exceeds the threshold. Pool barrier fences must comply with Clark County pool safety requirements: minimum 5 feet tall, self-closing and self-latching gates, no openings allowing passage of a 4-inch sphere, and gates must open outward from the pool. Block wall fences, which are the community standard in most of Clark County, may require engineering for walls over 6 feet due to wind loading in the desert climate.
