Gardena residents must obtain a City permit before holding a garage or yard sale under Municipal Code Chapter 9.52. Sales are limited to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., no more than two consecutive days, and no more than four sales per property per calendar year.
Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 9.52 requires any resident who wants to hold a garage or yard sale to obtain a permit before the event; permits can be requested through the City's online garage sale registration. The permittee must be the resident of the property where the sale takes place. Sales may only be held between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and may not exceed two consecutive days. No more than four garage or yard sales may be held on the same property within the same calendar year, and the applicant must declare under penalty of perjury that no more than three prior sales were held that year. Advertising signs may not be placed in the public right-of-way per GMC 18.58.050.
Selling without a permit, exceeding two days, holding more than four sales a year, or placing signs in the right-of-way violates GMC 9.52/18.58.050.
