Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 8.36 sets nighttime quiet from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., when noise disturbances across a residential property line are prohibited and lower decibel limits apply citywide.
Under GMC 8.36.030 and 8.36.070, it is unlawful to make loud, unnecessary noise that disturbs the peace of any neighborhood or annoys a reasonable person of normal sensitivity. Radios, TVs, instruments, loudspeakers, loading activities, and power tools that create a disturbance across a residential or commercial property line between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. are specifically prohibited (GMC 8.36.070(1),(2),(6),(11)). Exterior decibel limits also drop at 10 p.m. under GMC 8.36.040. Violations are a misdemeanor and a public nuisance under GMC 8.36.090.
