Gardena has no citywide leaf blower ban, but GMC 8.36.070(11) prohibits operating power lawn and garden tools, saws, and similar equipment between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. when they disturb neighbors.
Gardena does not impose an all-day leaf blower prohibition like some larger California cities. Instead, GMC 8.36.070(11)(a) makes it unlawful to operate any mechanically powered saw, sander, drill, grinder, lawn or garden tool, or similar tool between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. so as to create a noise disturbance across a residential or commercial property line. At all hours, gas leaf blowers are also subject to California statewide rules restricting new small off-road engines (SORE). Daytime blower use that exceeds the GMC 8.36.040 decibel limits or disturbs neighbors can still violate the general noise ordinance.
