Indianapolis property maintenance code (Rev. Code Ch. 575) applies to garage sales. Items must be removed from public view by sunset. Signs down within 24 hours.
Marion County applies Rev. Code Ch. 575 (Nuisances and Property Appearance) to garage and yard sales. Displays must remain behind the front building line or be temporary (brought out each morning, stored inside each evening). Items cannot remain at the curb, in the tree lawn, or in the front yard overnight or between sale days. Signs must be removed within 24 hours of sale end per Β§801-113, including from trees, poles, and neighbors' frontages. Unsold merchandise left out past sunset is treated as outdoor storage and triggers a property maintenance citation. Patterns of repeated sales with visible clutter are escalated through DBNS Neighborhood Liaisons.
Items left out: $50 to $200 per Β§575-103 property appearance citation. Signs not removed: $25 to $100. Pattern violations: escalating fines plus DBNS compliance hearing.
