St. Lucie County sets no countywide garage-sale rule, but Port St. Lucie requires a free permit and limits each residence to three garage sales per calendar year, each lasting no more than three consecutive days.
The unincorporated county code does not regulate garage sales, so rules come from your city. In Port St. Lucie (Code Sec. 158.219), no one may hold a garage sale without first filing an application with the code compliance division and obtaining a permit. No more than three garage-sale licenses are issued to any one residence per calendar year (unless the home is sold or newly rented), and no permit may run more than three consecutive days. The permit must be displayed on the on-premises garage-sale sign; signage rules are in Sec. 155.03(I).
Selling without a permit or exceeding three sales per year is a city code violation subject to code-compliance citation and fines.
