Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works Bureau of Waste Management collects trash, recycling, and yard waste at the curb for single-family homes in the sanitary district. Carts (one 65- or 95-gallon trash cart and one recycling cart per home) are county-issued and must be used; extra bags next to the cart are accepted only during approved special collections. Carts must be stored on the property — not in the street, on the sidewalk, or on the adjacent public right-of-way — between pickup days. Yard waste is collected weekly March–December; Christmas trees are collected on designated January weeks.
Storing carts in ROW or not retrieving same day: warning, then $50 and up to $200 for repeats. Overflowing carts or loose trash: rejected collection and $50 citation. Dumpsters at construction sites on ROW: require encroachment permit — up to $500 fine.
