Brevard County Code Β§94-26 requires trash and recycling carts to be stored out of public view between collection days. Place at curb no earlier than 5 PM day before, retrieve by 7 AM day after. Bear-resistant containers required in western county.
Brevard County Code Chapter 94 (Solid Waste) governs trash bin placement and storage. Carts must be stored in a garage, behind a fence, or on the side of the house out of public view from the street between collection days. Carts can be placed at the curb no earlier than 5 PM the evening before scheduled collection and must be retrieved by 7 AM the day after collection. Lids must remain closed; overflowing carts may not be collected. Waste Management and Waste Pro provide service depending on district. In western Brevard County (Mims, Scottsmoor, Canaveral Groves) near the St. Johns River corridor, bear-resistant trash containers are recommended and may be required in areas with active bear incidents. Hurricane debris has separate collection rules; storm debris must be separated into vegetative and C&D piles.
First offense: written warning. Second: $50 fine. Third: $100 per day fine. Overflowing containers: skip collection, return fee $25. Bear-related violations in bear zones: FWC involvement.
