Lubbock has no night cap or minimum stay rule for STRs. Whole-home rentals may operate year-round. Only HOA covenants can impose minimum-stay limits.
Unlike cities such as San Francisco (90-night cap for unhosted), Austin (no cap but type rules), or some California coastal towns, Lubbock has no ordinance establishing a minimum or maximum number of rental nights per year for STRs. Operators may rent 365 days per year. The only time-based distinction is the 30 consecutive day threshold under Texas Tax Code Chapter 156 which converts the stay from a taxable hotel occupancy to a non-taxable lodging arrangement. HOA covenants and deed restrictions under TX Property Code Chapter 209 can impose private minimum stay requirements, and some Lubbock neighborhoods have restrictive covenants requiring 30-day or longer leases that effectively prohibit STR use.
No city night-cap violations possible. HOA violations are enforced privately with fines and possible legal action under TX Property Code 209.
