Quakertown Borough has no dedicated short-term rental ordinance. Any dwelling rented short-term is treated as a residential rental dwelling unit under Chapter 11 (Housing) of the Borough Code, which requires annual landlord registration and triennial Code Enforcement inspection. Occupancy is governed by the International Property Maintenance Code adopted statewide under the PA Uniform Construction Code.
The Borough of Quakertown has not adopted a stand-alone short-term rental ordinance. Stays under 30 days at a dwelling are regulated as a residential rental dwelling unit under Chapter 11 (Housing) of the codified Borough ordinances, which obligates every landlord to file an annual rental registration form with the Borough, identify the occupants of each unit, and pay the registration/inspection fee in the Borough Fee Schedule. The Borough Code Enforcement Officer is directed to inspect each registered rental dwelling unit at least once every three years to enforce compliance with applicable codes. Maximum occupancy follows the International Property Maintenance Code adopted statewide under the PA Uniform Construction Code (34 Pa. Code Ch. 401-405), which sets minimum sleeping-room floor area (typically 70 sq ft for one occupant, plus 50 sq ft per additional occupant). The Borough has not enacted a per-bedroom guest cap specific to Airbnb or VRBO use. Hosts also owe the 6 percent PA Hotel Occupancy Tax and the 5 percent Bucks County Hotel Room Rental Tax on stays under 30 days. Confirm any zoning use question with the Quakertown Building & Zoning Department at 215-536-5001.
Failure to register a rental dwelling unit, or refusal of inspection, is a summary violation of Chapter 11 punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 30 days imprisonment per violation. Overcrowding violations enforceable through the IPMC are abated by the Code Enforcement Officer with notice and order to comply.
