Pascagoula's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 6.2.D classifies a short-term rental as a Visitor Accommodation use and requires the same off-street parking as a Multifamily Dwelling: 1.5 spaces per unit under 1,500 sq ft, or 2 spaces per unit at 1,500 sq ft or more. Tourist homes and B&Bs use a different formula.
Pascagoula UDO Table 6.2.D.1 sets minimum off-street parking for a 'Timeshare or short-term rental accommodation' equal to the multifamily dwelling standard: 1.5 spaces per dwelling unit with floor area of 1,500 sq ft or less, and 2 spaces per dwelling unit greater than 1,500 sq ft. A neighboring 'Tourist home' uses 1 space per guest room, and a 'Bed and breakfast inn' (UDO Section 4.3.D.10.a) requires 2 spaces plus 1 per guest bedroom and must place all guest parking to the side or rear of the home. Parking surfaces and driveway widths must comply with UDO Section 6.2 standards (paved or approved surface, no parking in required front yard landscaped strips). STR accommodations are listed in Table 4.2.B as permitted in multifamily residential and several mixed-use, commercial, and industrial districts but are not permitted by-right in the SFR single-family residential districts. Confirm zoning, on-site parking layout, and any business-license parking conditions with the Planning Division at 228-762-1020 before listing.
Providing fewer than the required 1.5 or 2 spaces per unit under UDO Table 6.2.D.1, parking guests on the street in violation of city parking rules, or operating an STR in a zoning district where it is not a permitted use can trigger zoning enforcement under UDO Article 9 and may result in revocation of the city business license.
