Because sidewalks are scarce in unincorporated Tarrant County, obstruction rules primarily apply within platted subdivisions where pedestrian walkways exist along interior streets or common areas. Texas Transportation Code Section 552.006 states that a pedestrian may not be required to leave a sidewalk and travel in the roadway to go around an obstacle, making it a Class C misdemeanor to obstruct the walkway with a vehicle, trailer, equipment, or other object.
