LA previously designated no-vending zones near venues like Dodger Stadium, Crypto.com Arena, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but the City Council voted unanimously 15-0 to eliminate most no-vending zones. Vendors must maintain a 3-foot clear sidewalk path, position 5 feet from fire hydrants and building entrances, and keep 10 feet from other vendors. Vending near certified farmers' markets during operating hours remains restricted.
The City of Los Angeles initially established no-vending zones around major venues and tourist destinations when implementing its sidewalk vending program under LAMC §42.13. However, the City Council subsequently voted 15-0 to eliminate most no-vending zones, including areas outside Dodger Stadium, Exposition Park, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Crypto.com Arena. Current spatial requirements include: vendors must maintain a minimum 3-foot clear pedestrian path on sidewalks, position at least 5 feet from fire hydrants, driveways, curbs, and building entrances, and maintain a 10-foot distance from other vendors. Vending within proximity of certified farmers' markets during their operating hours is restricted. Vending near schools during school hours requires written permission from the school administration. Parks have designated vending areas managed under the park vending component of the permit program. ADA accessibility on sidewalks must be maintained at all times.
Administrative citations for spatial violations. Repeated violations can lead to permit suspension or revocation. SB 946 limits penalties to administrative fines, not criminal charges.
