Above-ground pools in Colorado Springs require a building permit and must meet the same barrier/fencing requirements as in-ground pools. The pool walls may serve as part of the barrier if they meet height requirements.
Above-ground pools are subject to the same PPRBD permitting process and ISPSC barrier requirements as in-ground pools. If the pool wall itself is at least 48 inches tall and not climbable, it may serve as part of the required pool barrier. A removable ladder or steps must be designed to prevent unauthorized access when not in use (retractable or lockable). Any decking connected to an above-ground pool must be enclosed with a compliant barrier. Water-wise restrictions apply to filling above-ground pools β large fills should occur during non-restricted hours.
Unpermitted pools: removal or retroactive permit with double fees. Safety violations: immediate correction required. Fines $100 to $500.
