Above-ground pools in Coral Springs are subject to the same permitting, setback, and barrier requirements as in-ground pools under Land Development Code Section 250129 and Florida Statutes Chapter 515. Pools less than 4 feet high still require enclosure by a fence, wall, screen enclosure, or other barrier to prevent unauthorized access.
Above-ground pools in Coral Springs must comply with Land Development Code Section 250129 governing accessory structures. The same 7.5-foot setback from property lines applies to above-ground pools, and pool decking must maintain a 5-foot setback. Under Florida Statutes Chapter 515, every above-ground pool less than four feet high must be enclosed by a fence, wall, screen enclosure, or other barrier preventing unauthorized access. Above-ground pools four feet or taller with non-climbable exterior walls may use the pool wall as part of the barrier system, but any ladder or steps must be removable or have a lockable barrier. A building permit is required from the Coral Springs Building Department for above-ground pool installation. The barrier must be at least 48 inches high measured from the outside. As with all pools, the installation must comply with the Florida Building Code and Broward County's High Velocity Hurricane Zone requirements for structural integrity.
Installation without a permit violates the Coral Springs Code of Ordinances Chapter 5 and Land Development Code Chapter 2. Failure to provide required barriers is a violation of Florida Statutes Chapter 515. Code enforcement may issue citations and require compliance or removal.
