Fireworks in Coral Springs are regulated under Florida Statute Chapter 791 and the Florida Fire Prevention Code adopted in Chapter 7 of the city code. Consumer fireworks are legal on three designated holidays (July 4th, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) under HB 1059 (2020). Cities cannot ban fireworks on these holidays.
Florida HB 1059 (2020) created three designated holidays on which consumer fireworks may be legally discharged: July 4th, December 31st (New Year's Eve), and January 1st (New Year's Day). Coral Springs adopts the Florida Fire Prevention Code through Chapter 7 of its Code of Ordinances. On non-designated days, the sale and use of consumer fireworks is restricted under Florida Statute Section 791.04, with only sparklers and certain novelty items permitted year-round. The Coral Springs Fire Department enforces fire safety standards for fireworks use, including safe distances from structures and dry vegetation. During drought conditions, the Florida Division of Forestry may issue burn bans that effectively restrict fireworks. HOA and CDD rules common in Coral Springs planned communities may impose additional fireworks restrictions, though they cannot override the state-designated holiday allowance enacted after July 1, 2020.
Illegal fireworks use outside designated holidays is a first-degree misdemeanor under FL Statute 791.02, punishable by up to $1,000 fine and/or up to 1 year in jail. Fire safety violations enforced by Coral Springs Fire Department under Chapter 7.
