Electrical connections for pumps and heaters need GFCI protection and cannot discharge water onto a neighbor's land. Portable and inflatable pools under 24 inches deep are exempt. In the City of Peoria the same pool is permitted under the city building code.
An above-ground pool set up without a permit, or with a fixed ladder and no gate, is a code violation subject to retroactive permitting, correction, or removal, plus penalty fees.
