Lake County adopted the 2024 series of International Code Council codes (effective July 12, 2025) with amendments for unincorporated areas. All pool construction requires building permits. Permit fees based on cubic footage of construction. Review takes approximately 10 business days. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requires anti-entrapment drain covers. Swimming pools, cabanas, and gazebos are not counted as buildings for accessory structure count purposes.
