NY requires pool alarms under General Business Law 225-f for new installations. VGB drain covers federally required. Ulster towns verify at final inspection.
NY General Business Law 225-f (Graham Baker Law, 2006) requires all new or substantially modified residential pools to have either a pool alarm capable of detecting a child entering the water, a power safety cover, or a 48-inch barrier with door alarms on house doors leading to the pool area. The federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requires anti-entrapment drain covers on all pool and spa drains. Ulster County towns verify both at the final inspection before issuing the Certificate of Compliance.
