Oklahoma City Little Blue program accepts paper, cardboard, aluminum, steel cans, and plastics #1/#2. No glass, no plastic bags. Contaminated bins rejected at curb.
Oklahoma City's Little Blue recycling program under Municipal Code Β§40-7 accepts: mixed paper (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper), cardboard (broken down), aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles and jugs #1 (PET) and #2 (HDPE). Not accepted: glass (drop-off only at 1024 W Hefner Rd and other sites), plastic bags (return to grocery stores), Styrofoam, food waste, yard waste (separate program), needles, electronics. Contaminated carts (food residue, plastic bags, non-accepted items) are tagged with an orange sticker and skipped. Edmond recycling through Waste Management accepts glass but not plastic bags. Midwest City's curbside program mirrors OKC. Unincorporated county residents rely on private haulers or drop-offs. Oklahoma has no state recycling mandate but OKC's diversion goal is 30 percent. Multi-family properties over 4 units have no OKC recycling mandate currently.
Contaminated bins: tagged and skipped. Repeat contamination: $25 to $100 (OKC Β§40-22). Illegal dumping of non-recyclables: $500+ under state law.
