Oklahoma City Utilities Department (405-297-2833) handles solid waste collection for OKC residents under Municipal Code Chapter 40. Standard service: weekly 96-gallon Big Blue trash cart pickup, biweekly 96-gallon Little Blue recycling cart, weekly Big Green yard-waste cart (April-November). Bins must be curbside by 7 AM on pickup day, placed 3 feet apart with handles toward the house. Holiday delays shift collection one day (closed for New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Edmond contracts with Waste Management (Β§15-8). Midwest City, Del City, and Bethany run municipal services. Unincorporated Oklahoma County residents contract private haulers (WM, Republic, American Waste Control). Contaminated recycling: tagged and skipped. Oversize bins or overweight (250 lb) bins will not be lifted by automated trucks.
Repeat bin misuse: $50 to $200 citation (OKC Β§40-22). Overweight bins: pickup refused. Illegal dumping under 21 O.S. Β§1753.1: $500 to $2,500 + cleanup costs.
