DeKalb Sanitation provides single-stream curbside recycling for paper, cardboard, glass, metals, and plastics #1, #2, and #5. Plastic bags and food waste contaminate loads.
DeKalb County Sanitation single-stream recycling accepts mixed paper, cardboard (flattened), glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, and plastic bottles and jugs marked #1, #2, and #5. Plastic bags, film, clamshell containers, styrofoam, scrap metal, and food waste are not accepted curbside and contaminate entire truckloads. Cartons (juice, milk) are accepted. DeKalb County participates in statewide Keep Georgia Beautiful initiatives. Multi-family properties over a specified unit count are encouraged but not mandated to provide recycling. Glass may be dropped off separately at certain transfer stations for higher-quality recovery.
Contaminated carts: tagged and skipped; third contamination may trigger a $50 fine. Persistent contamination can result in cart removal.
