KUB customers must report water leaks, main breaks, or water quality issues to the 24-hour service line so crews can respond and damaged service lines do not bill the customer.
Knoxville Utilities Board operates a round-the-clock dispatch line for water emergencies and asks customers to report visible leaks at meters, hydrants, or in the street. Customers are responsible for service lines from the meter to the building, and KUB owns mains and the meter itself. Hidden leaks behind walls or below grade may qualify for a leak adjustment that reduces a single high bill if repaired within a reasonable time and documented by a plumber receipt. Repeated unrepaired leaks can lead to service interruption and TDEC water-loss reporting.
Failure to repair a known customer-side leak after KUB notice can result in water service termination, billing for excessive consumption, and possible cross-connection control follow-up.
