Newark prohibits roosters over noise and bars keeping fowl in multi-family houses, multi-family yards, or any dwelling house. Genuine commercial farms of five or more acres may instead fall under the New Jersey Right to Farm Act (N.J.S.A. 4:1C), routing agricultural nuisance complaints through the County Agriculture Development Board.
