Under DRMC Chapter 8, Denver prohibits ownership or keeping of many exotic and wild animals within city limits. Prohibited categories include: lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, cougars, lynx, bobcats; wolves, coyotes, foxes; badgers, wolverines, weasels, skunks, mink; raccoons; monkeys and chimpanzees; scorpions; venomous snakes and large constrictors; and venomous lizards. Colorado Parks and Wildlife regulations independently restrict possession of many native wildlife species. Violations are enforced by Denver Animal Protection with fines and mandatory surrender of the animal.
