Orland Park prohibits keeping livestock including cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and similar farm animals in all residential districts. Only traditional household pets are permitted on residential property.
Orland Park's Land Development Code and animal control ordinance prohibit keeping livestock in all residential zoning districts. Prohibited livestock includes cattle, horses, ponies, goats, sheep, swine/pigs (including pot-bellied and 'mini' breeds), llamas, alpacas, donkeys, mules, and similar large or farm animals. The village has no remaining agricultural zoning that would permit small livestock. Limited exceptions may exist with special use approval for therapy animals or service animals on a case-by-case basis. Cook County also has rules governing animal welfare and rabies vaccination for any livestock present. Backyard chickens and other poultry are addressed under the chickens-livestock rules. Contact Orland Park Code Enforcement at (708) 403-6225.
Keeping prohibited livestock results in fines of $100 to $500 per animal per day. Animals may be impounded by Cook County Animal Control. Continuing violations may result in court action.
