Alhambra's public parks are closed overnight: under Municipal Code Section 14.04.030, it is unlawful to remain, stay, or loiter in any public park between 10:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. unless participating in an event authorized by a City Manager permit. A separate minors' curfew applies citywide.
The City of Alhambra closes its public parks overnight under Municipal Code Section 14.04.030 (Title 14, Parks and Public Grounds). That section makes it unlawful to remain, stay, or loiter in any public park between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day, except as a participant in a meeting or assemblage duly authorized by a permit obtained from the City Manager. In effect, Alhambra park hours run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and being in a park outside those hours without a permit is a violation. This park-closure rule applies to everyone regardless of age. Separately, Alhambra maintains a citywide curfew for minors under Chapter 9.12 (Minors; Loitering and Curfew), which restricts persons under 18 from loitering or remaining in public places during nighttime curfew hours and includes provisions on parental responsibility - so a minor in a park after the park curfew can implicate both the park-closure ordinance and the minors' curfew. Anyone planning a nighttime event in a city park (for example, a permitted gathering) should obtain authorization from the City Manager's office in advance. Park users should otherwise plan to leave by 10:30 p.m. to avoid violating Section 14.04.030.
Remaining in a public park between 10:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. without a City Manager permit violates Section 14.04.030 and can result in citation. Minors may also face enforcement under the Chapter 9.12 curfew, which addresses parental responsibility.
