Pomona, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Article III of Chapter 38 governs public conduct in parks. Sec. 38-72(a) declares every public park open to the public during all daylight hours, and Sec. 38-72(b) closes every public park from sunset to sunrise, with the narrow exception of a scheduled event that has received the community services director's prior written authorization under Sec. 38-74(b) and (c). Spectators or participants at an approved after-sunset or before-sunrise event may only access the specific facilities covered by that permit, per Sec. 38-72(c), and Sec. 38-72(d) bars them from remaining on park premises beyond the approved time, even with a valid permit.

Anyone in violation of the hours restriction commits an infraction under Sec. 38-72(e). Beyond hours, Sec. 38-73 lists 16 specific acts that are misdemeanors if committed willfully in any park, including staking out a domestic animal off-leash, cutting or removing wood, turf, grass, soil, rock, sand or gravel, swimming or polluting any park fountain, pond or lake, kindling a fire outside designated spots, camping or lodging in the park, riding a bicycle or vehicle off designated roads, playing amplified music that disturbs others, parking or driving on turfed areas, failing to pick up pet waste, using an inflatable attraction or dunk tank without a chapter 46 permit, and smoking.

Sec. 38-71 separately makes it a misdemeanor to disobey a lawful order from a park director, superintendent, foreman or employee acting as a special police officer enforcing the chapter.
