Louisville Metro Parks close at 11 PM and open at 6 AM per Metro Parks regulations and LMCO Chapter 131. Waterfront Park has the same 11 PM curfew. After-hours presence is criminal trespass under KRS Β§511.080.
Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Parks β including the Olmsted Parks system (Cherokee, Iroquois, Shawnee, Chickasaw, Central, Boone Square, Bingham, Tyler), Waterfront Park, E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park access areas, and neighborhood parks β close nightly at 11 PM and reopen at 6 AM per Louisville Metro Parks regulations adopted under LMCO Chapter 131. Posted signs at park entrances establish notice sufficient for trespass enforcement under KRS Β§511.080 (criminal trespass third degree, Class B misdemeanor). Waterfront Park follows the same 11 PM to 6 AM schedule except during permitted events (Thunder Over Louisville, WFPK Waterfront Wednesday, Forecastle). Athletic field lights extend posted hours only for scheduled permitted use. Unauthorized camping is separately prohibited and has been a focus of Metro encampment policy. LMPD and Metro Park Rangers enforce after-hours violations. Louisville also enforces a juvenile curfew citywide under LMCO Β§132.05 (separate from park hours).
After-hours park presence: LMPD citation for LMCO Ch. 131 violation plus possible KRS Β§511.080 trespass charge (Class B misdemeanor, up to 90 days jail, $250 fine). Unauthorized camping: citation plus removal order. Vandalism: Class A misdemeanor or Class D felony under KRS Β§512.020.
