Full Breakdown
Under Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances § 42.32, all Metro parks and playgrounds close at 11:00 p.m. and reopen at 6:00 a.m. During closed hours it is unlawful for anyone other than police, fire, other emergency personnel, public utility workers, or Parks Department/Metro Government staff on official business to enter a park or playground, except for non-stop through traffic or under a written permit from the Director of Parks. The Director of Parks sets and posts closing-hour notices and can adjust hours in consultation with the relevant Metro Council district representative(s). This rule applies to Metro-run parks; home rule cities inside Jefferson County such as Anchorage, Jeffersontown, St. Matthews, Shively, Prospect, Middletown and Lyndon may set separate hours for their own parks.
Violations & Fines
Entering or remaining in a Louisville Metro park after 11:00 p.m. or before 6:00 a.m. without a written Parks Department permit is a violation punishable under LMCO § 42.99.
