Lincoln parks are generally open 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It is unlawful to be in a park when it is closed. Wilderness Park closes at sunset; a few downtown parks stay open to 2:00 a.m. Violation is an infraction with a fine up to $100.
Lincoln Municipal Code Section 12.08.070 makes it unlawful to occupy or be present in any park or park facility during hours it is not open. All parks are open daily 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., except Wilderness Park (sunrise to sunset), Pioneers Park (6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. in daylight saving time, otherwise 7:00 a.m. to sunset), and Bill Harris Iron Horse Park and Tower Square (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.). Multi-use trails and Centennial Mall sidewalks are open 24 hours. The Mayor or Parks Director may close any park at any time. Note: Lincoln has no general juvenile street curfew (Chapter 9.28 covers only tobacco), so park hours are the main overnight restriction.
Being in a Lincoln park after hours is an infraction punishable by a fine of not more than $100.00, plus costs, enforced by Parks and Recreation and Lincoln Police.
