McHenry County Conservation District sites are open to the public only from sunrise to sunset, or as posted. No one may enter or remain in a conservation site outside those hours without the Executive Director's written permission.
The Conservation District's General Use Regulation Ordinance (No. 14-888), Chapter I, sets the hours: conservation sites are open from sunrise to sunset, or as posted, and no person may attempt to enter or remain when a site is not open to the public without the Executive Director's written permission. Camping-area quiet hours run 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Entry must be through an authorized entrance. The ordinance classifies after-hours presence as a Class C violation, and it is unlawful to disobey any posted rule. This governs the District's preserves and trails (such as Glacial Park and Prairieview); individual cities and townships set curfews for their own municipal parks.
After-hours presence is a Class C violation under Ordinance 14-888; fines are set by the District's separate enforcement/penalty ordinance and enforced by Conservation District Police.
