Richmond requires corner lot sight triangles kept clear of obstructions over 3 feet high within 15 feet of the intersection in both directions, measured from the curb or edge of pavement.
Richmond Zoning Ordinance requires a clear sight triangle at all street intersections and driveway-street intersections. On corner lots, no fence, wall, hedge, shrub, or other visual obstruction between 3 feet and 10 feet high may be located within a triangle formed by the two curbs and a line connecting points 15 feet back from the intersection along each curb. Trees with canopies above 10 feet are exempt. Driveway visibility triangles are 10 feet by 10 feet. Enforcement is handled by the Department of Public Works upon complaint or during routine street inspections, and violations must be corrected within 30 days of notice.
Civil penalty 100 dollars first offense, 250 dollars for repeat. City may remove vegetation at owner expense if not corrected within 30 days.
