Monroe County opted into this law, allowing sales of permitted sparkling devices from June 1βJuly 5 and December 26βJanuary 2. In 2021, there was a legislative push to have Monroe County opt back out due to safety concerns from firefighters, but the county has remained opted in. Only the limited sparkling devices permitted under state law may be purchased and used β aerial, exploding, or mortar-style fireworks remain illegal.
