Full Breakdown

LAMC § 57.5608.1.2 imposes a citywide ban covering every form of fireworks use, possession, and sale. The only exemption is for patriotic, civic, or religious organizations conducting public displays under a Fire Department permit and in compliance with California Health and Safety Code. Display operators must hold a State Fire Marshal Pyrotechnic Operator license (§ 57.5608.1.2.1), and every permit applicant must submit evidence of a Fireworks Public Display License or Fireworks General Public Display License granted by the State Fire Marshal (§ 57.5608.1.2.2). No consumer fireworks, including 'safe and sane' types, are permitted anywhere in the City.

Violations & Fines

Unlawful under LAMC § 57.5608.1.2; prosecution as a misdemeanor under LAMC § 11.00. Conducting a display without a permit or State Fire Marshal license is a separate violation.
