Consumer fireworks have been legal statewide in Georgia since 2015, and Paulding County cannot ban them. State law sets the days and 10 AM to 11:59 PM hours; the county can only limit them through a general noise ordinance.
Georgia legalized consumer (1.4G) fireworks in 2015 under HB 110, and the state, not Paulding County, controls them (O.C.G.A. Β§25-10-1 et seq.). Residents may set them off year-round between 10 AM and 11:59 PM, extended to about 1 AM on New Year's and July 4, plus the holiday windows of January 1, July 3-4, the last Saturday in May, Labor Day weekend, and December 31. Paulding can't outlaw fireworks; it can only rein them in through a general noise ordinance enacted after July 1, 2018, or bar discharge near hospitals, gas stations, and other sensitive sites. Buyers must be 18 or older.
Discharging outside the legal hours or in a prohibited location can bring citations and misdemeanor penalties. Careless use that injures someone or starts a fire escalates to more serious criminal charges.
