Pinellas County Chapter 62 adopts the Florida Fire Prevention Code, which incorporates NFPA 1 and NFPA 58, governing propane container siting, permits, and barrier protection countywide.
Chapter 62, Article III of the Pinellas County Code adopts the Florida Fire Prevention Code as updated by the State Fire Marshal under Florida Statutes Chapter 633. That code incorporates NFPA 1 Chapter 69 with reference to NFPA 58, the LP-Gas Code. Permits are required for storage and dispensing above threshold quantities; containers with aggregate water capacity of 125 gallons or more trigger plan review with the fire marshal. Setbacks from buildings, property lines, and ignition sources follow NFPA 58 tables, and tanks within 10 feet of a vehicular way require crash protection such as bollards. Florida Statutes Chapter 527 also licenses LP-gas dealers through the Florida Department of Agriculture.
Improper installations may be red-tagged, ordered removed, or fined; operating without a permit can lead to stop-work orders and Chapter 62 civil penalties.
