Tarpon Springs prohibits customer traffic at by-right home occupations. Any home-based business that generates client visits, sales, or deliveries must obtain Board of Commissioners approval before operating in a residential district.
Article IV (Special Regulations) of the Tarpon Springs Land Development Code distinguishes between home occupations permitted by right and those needing case-by-case approval. By-right occupations are limited to a business office for phone and mail purposes only, home crafts/artist studios, and one-pupil tutoring; no customer traffic, on-premise sales, or home deliveries are allowed. Day care for up to two persons or special-education tutoring up to four pupils may be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Any other use involving clients, sales, or deliveries also requires Board of Commissioners approval before commencing.
Generating unapproved customer visits or deliveries may result in code enforcement citations, daily fines, and orders to discontinue the home occupation.
