Miami-Dade County Section 33-25.1 allows home occupations in residential districts using no more than 25% of living area, not exceeding 500 square feet. An annual Certificate of Use and Occupational License are required.
Miami-Dade County Code Section 33-25.1 regulates home occupations in residential zoning districts. No more than 25% of the living area of the dwelling unit and garage, not to exceed 500 square feet, may be devoted to a home occupation. An annual Certificate of Use for Home Occupation and Occupational License are required. Permitted uses include professional offices (excluding medical or dental), non-physical medical consultation, music and art instruction, individual educational instruction, cottage food operations per FL Β§500.80, hobby crafts, internet businesses, and dressmaking or tailoring. The home occupation must not produce detectable sound, vibrations, glare, odors, or other nuisances beyond 100 feet. All activities must occur indoors. Contact the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources at 305-375-2800 for specific zoning questions.
Operating without a Certificate of Use is a code violation. Exceeding the 500 square foot limit or creating neighborhood nuisances may result in enforcement action under Chapter 8CC.
