Ewa Gentry residents must follow ROH Sec. 42-3.5 food waste recycling and the G.R.O.W. curbside program under Ordinance 23-30.
Ewa Gentry households receive standard city curbside refuse, recycling, and green waste service from the Department of Environmental Services. ROH Sec. 42-3.5 establishes food waste recycling, and Ordinance 23-30 (Bill 47) added curbside food scrap collection to the islandwide G.R.O.W. program beginning April 1, 2025. Commercial food establishments around Ewa and Hoakalei also have mandatory diversion obligations. ROH Sec. 42-1.4 governs preparation and placement of refuse and recyclables, including keeping green and gray carts at approved setbacks on Gentry collection days. Backyard compost is allowed but must not create a Chapter 16A nuisance.
Improper cart setout or contaminated green carts may draw warning tags and fines. Commercial Ewa food operations face escalating penalties for diversion failures.
