Dunedin follows Southwest Florida Water Management District schedules. Under the current Modified Phase III shortage, irrigation is limited to one assigned day per week between 12:01-4:00 AM, with $500 maximum citations and no first-warning period.
Section 86-77 and related provisions of Dunedin's water code adopt SWFWMD watering rules by reference. The current Modified Phase III Extreme Water Shortage Order, effective April 3 through July 1, 2026, restricts lawn irrigation to a single day each week determined by address. Allowed hours are 12:01-4:00 AM and 8:00-11:59 PM. Hand watering of plant beds and microirrigation is permitted any day before 8 AM or after 6 PM. Beginning April 17, 2026, code officers issue immediate citations without prior warning, with fines up to $500 per violation. HOAs may not require landscaping that increases water use.
Immediate citations starting April 17, 2026, no warning notices, civil penalties up to $500 per occurrence, and possible utility service action.
